Census 2010

The U.S. Census Bureau released the redistricting data file for Michigan on March 22, 2011. This release included total population (and voting-age population), by race and Hispanic origin, as well as counts of total housing units and whether they are occupied or vacant. The data are available at all levels of geography – from census blocks in your community to the state total. The next release of data in May or June 2011 will include: population counts for 63 race categories and Hispanic or Latino origin, population counts for American Indian and Alaska Native tribes, and limited population and housing characteristics such as age, sex, race, ethnicity, household structure, and housing tenure. These data will cover the same detailed geographic areas as the first release.

With Data Driven Detroit’s online, interactive Census 2000 to 2010 comparison tool, Michiganders can zoom in on a Michigan city, township, county, or census tract, and click to retrieve a report comparing comprehensive 2000 and 2010 census data for their area of interest.
