One D Scorecard

The 2010 One D Scorecard is here!  The Scorecard monitors Southeast Michigan’s performance in over 120 indicators.  Through the Scorecard, One D aims to increase access to key information, foster a more informed civic dialogue, track progress on shared regional goals, and report on change within the indicators.

The purpose of the Scorecard is to provide a comprehensive look at the status of the region through key indicators that align with the five priority areas of One D:

  • Economic Prosperity
  • Educational Preparedness
  • Quality of Life
  • Social Equity
  • Regional Transit

The 2010 Scorecard includes several improvements designed to help users get more out of the information presented on the site.  The design has been streamlined, allowing users to quickly and easily navigate to indicators of interest.  Indicators are also tracked over time in the 2010 release wherever possible, allowing stakeholders to see if the region is improving compared to others, and to ourselves.  Data sets are still available for download for each indicator, empowering users to explore the numbers in depth.

One D began as an effort to bring collaboration to ongoing parallel civic efforts.  Founding organizations included: Detroit Regional Chamber, Detroit Renaissance, Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, New Detroit, Cultural Alliance of Southeastern Michigan, and United Way for Southeastern Michigan.  The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) joined the collaboration later.  Each organization was engaged in a regional initiative of research and prioritizing goals to facilitate growth and development within its specific mission.  One D sought to bring those efforts together to avoid duplication of efforts and resources, and provide a comprehensive blueprint for moving the region forward.

The work of One D will be transitioned over the next few months to partner organizations launching a new phase of civic engagement.  Responsibility for the Regional Scorecard will be transferred to Data Driven Detroit, with marketing and promotional support provided by the Detroit Regional Chamber, and community outreach provided by Detroit Public Television.

All datasets are available for download at the OneD Scorecard.

Thank you to Detroit Public Television for partnering with Data Driven Detroit to promote the real life impact of the numbers behind the Scorecard.
